MODEL BUILDING PROJECT

Architectural Model for Faculty Dwelling Unit

Unit Program:

Build a prototype of your Project 1 residential unit at 1/8” = 1ft.  Demonstrate with the model the unit can be reconfigured by the occupants without disturbing the structure using the principles presented by Stephen Kendall.

Outcomes:

  •   An ability to design systems, components, or processes for broadly-defined engineering   technology problems appropriate to program educational objectives

Project Submission

  • NO COLOR FOR ANY ELEMENT OF THE MODEL. Different shades of chipboard are acceptable. Use white glue (like Elmer’s Glue) to assemble the model.

  • Assemble the interior model so the envelope can be slipped off easily.

  • The interior model must be self-supporting and does not lean. Develop proportional scale elements for structural pieces.

  • Perform a self-assessment of your submission and incorporate it into the presentation.
